Gov. Henry of OK Supports Sunshine Week With Proclamation

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry, noting that "Sunshine Week 2005 will provide Oklahoma media with an opportunity to inform the public of the benefits of open and transparent governmental operations," has proclaimed March 13-19 as "Sunshine Week" throughout the state.

Wheras, the state of Oklahoma recognizes the importance of open government; and

Wheras, an important tenet of successful democracy is public confidence in government established through proceedings that are open and available to the citizenry; and

Wheras, Sunshine Week 2005 will provide Oklahoma media with an opportunity to inform the public of the benefits of open and transparent governmental operations; and

Wheras, Sunshine Week will be celebrated throughout the United States March 13-19, 2005;

Now, therefore, I, Brad Henry, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, do hereby proclaim March 13-19, 2005, as
