Description

2010 Second-place Winner

Article

Second Place — 2010 Local Heroes Contest

Born: New York City

Family: Husband, Rob; step-daughter, Maxie; and Mom and Dad.

My day job is: Real Estate Specialist

Favorite pastime: Music, family and friends and learning something new

I got involved because: The borough (Mt. Arlington) was not transparent when trying to merge our police department and I believed it was not handled properly. This opened my eyes to how local government was working and I believed I could contribute some help in this area.

I couldn’t have done it without: the other active members of Concerned Active Residents of Mount Arlington, Beth, Clint, Debbie, Paula and my husband Rob and 2) my Mom, who taught me speaking your mind (diplomatically) is a good thing.

My message to others: Start listening to what local government is doing, learn about it by asking questions, then you will feel more comfortable either agreeing or disagreeing with their plans for your town and your money.

People I admire: People who are willing to step out of their comfort zone to learn more for themselves and help others do the same.
